Munro Vehicles has launched a special Mountain Rescue edition of its Mk_1 electric truck, designed for the demanding needs of Mountain Rescue teams and Fire Services. This rugged, all-terrain vehicle is built to access remote and challenging locations, ensuring quick response times to casualties and wildfires in difficult terrains.
The Mountain Rescue edition was developed following detailed consultations with mountain rescue teams across Scotland, England, and Wales, as well as discussions with regional Fire Services. Key features of this model include roof-mounted blue lights, secure stretcher transportation, and space for three passengers with their necessary equipment.
This edition follows the recent launch of Munro’s Mk_1 pickup in May, further demonstrating the versatility of the Mk_1 platform for both commercial and individual users. The Mk_1 Truck and Pickup serve sectors like mining, construction, agriculture, utilities, and defence, helping users meet decarbonisation targets without compromising on performance.
Russell Peterson, CEO and Co-Founder of Munro, stated, “We’re excited to introduce the Mountain Rescue edition of the Mk_1 electric truck. Through direct consultation with Mountain Rescue teams, we’ve tailored the vehicle to meet their exacting requirements. The Mk_1’s adaptability reflects its pure design, engineered to tackle the harshest environments with ease. Our no-nonsense vehicles are built to perform in the toughest conditions.”
The Munro Mk_1 features an electric motor with 381hp and 700Nm of instant torque, enabling the vehicle to go from 0 to 60mph in just 4.9 seconds. A lower-power version with 299hp is also available. The 82.4kWh battery can be charged from 15% to 80% in 36 minutes using a 100kW charger. On a full charge, the Mk_1 offers a range of over 190 miles, providing up to 16 hours of off-road operation.
The truck’s rear bed can accommodate a Euro pallet with a maximum payload of 1,050kg. The Performance model offers a braked towing capacity of 3,500kg, easily transporting tools, water bowsers, or disaster relief equipment.
Designed, engineered, and manufactured in Britain, the Munro Mk_1 is the first light vehicle to be produced in Scotland in more than 40 years.
