Ineos has introduced the Grenadier Commercial, a modified version of its popular off-road vehicle, aimed at addressing the concerns of commercial users who were previously paying VAT on the Utility Wagon version. This new model allows owners to reclaim VAT and benefit from reduced benefit-in-kind tax rates.
Replacing the two-seat Utility Wagon, the Grenadier Commercial has been customized to meet the requirements of a commercial vehicle. Changes include replacing rear windows with aluminium panels suitable for signage, blacking out the rear passenger door windows, and disabling chassis mounting points inside the vehicle to prevent the installation of a second row of seats.
The vehicle’s cargo area is designed for practicality, featuring a full-length flat floor and a floor-to-roof cargo barrier behind the front seats. This modification ensures that a standard Euro pallet (1,200mm x 800mm) can be securely carried, offering a total cargo volume of over 2,000 litres when loaded to the roof.
Powered by a 3.0-litre turbocharged six-cylinder petrol or diesel engine from BMW, the Grenadier Commercial maintains a braked towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes. The vehicle also retains its robust box-section ladder frame chassis, solid beam axles, two-speed transfer case, and up to three locking differentials, ensuring top-notch off-road capabilities.
“We’ve listened to UK customers who have been requesting this model since our launch in 2022,” said George Ratcliffe, Commercial Director at Ineos Automotive. “The Grenadier platform’s versatility allows for these modifications without compromising on driving dynamics or off-road performance.”
Ineos will continue to manufacture the Grenadier at its facility in Hambach, France, with the commercial conversion taking place in the UK at Pontypool-based EDC Limited. Prices for the Grenadier Commercial start at £51,931, plus VAT and on-the-road costs. Orders are now being taken, with deliveries expected to begin by the end of June.
